We host meetings and events that accommodate different folks' schedules:

1. Diversity Committee Monthly Meetings

Want to be more involved? Join our monthly diversity committee meetings. We meet every fourth Monday of the month, 12-1pm. Email [email protected] to be added to the email list.

 2. Multicultural Division Book Club

Current book: Between the World and Me, by Ta-Nehisi Coates

Please join us on March 18, 7:30pm CST, for a virtual book club hosted by the Multicultural Division. This book club is open to all MPA members and is free to attend. It will be held via Zoom.

We will be discussing Between the World and Me, by Ta-Nehisi Coates. This best-selling and National Book Award-winning 2015 novel was written by the author after the murder of a college friend by police after a case of mistaken identity.  It discusses the impacts of systemic racism on individuals and society. Everyone is welcome to the discussion, regardless of whether you have read the book completely, partially, or not even cracked it. All that is asked is an interest in the topic. Meeting participants have the high honor of being eligible to vote for what book we will read next. If you would like to subscribe to the MPA Book Club listserv, please email David at [email protected].

 3. Difficult Dialogues

Join our monthly virtual conversations on topics that would challenge your perspectives and learn from others.

Past topics: Police Brutality and Race Relations, Beauty and Race, Immigration, Disabilities and the Impact of Ableism

Want to organize and host a difficult discussion? Reach out to [email protected]!
