Multicultural Division Book Club

Date & Time: Thursday, May 9, 2024 | 7:30 p.m. CT

We will discuss This Contested Land: The Storied Past and Uncertain Future of America’s National Monuments by award-winning author McKenzie Long.  This book discusses natural histories, cultural stories, and present perils of thirteen national monuments from Maine to Hawaii.  It also discusses the  processes used to select land that becomes national parks and who is enfranchised and disenfranchised by the choices made.  Everyone is welcome to the discussion, regardless of whether you have read the book completely, partially, or not even cracked it. All that is asked is an interest in the topic. Meeting participants have the high honor of being eligible to vote for what book we will read next. Questions?
