Friday Forum Encore:  The Good Lives Model as a Positive Psychology Approach: Clinical and Counseling Applications

This program will be held virtually via Zoom. Details with instruction on how to view the webinar will be sent to all registrants the day before the program (2/8).

Program: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. This session is at the intermediate level and is designed for psychologists and other mental health professionals.

Friday Forums are cosponsored with the Metropolitan State University Psychology Department.

About the Program:
The ‘Good Lives Model’ (GLM) has produced very promising results on its effectiveness in criminal and forensic populations. This is mainly due to the nature of this model being more in the realm of positive psychology and helping clients focus on the ‘positive’ side of life. However, there is not much research on the application or effectiveness of this model on non-forensic populations. The following presentation will be guided towards the basics of applying the ‘Good Lives Model’ in combination with other CBT-based methods to the treatment of many different populations.

This program qualifies for 3.0 continuing education credits. Attendees must attend the entire session to gain credit. The speakers have no conflicts of interest to report. Registration fee includes access to live webinar, program agenda, program PowerPoint, and continuing education certificate.

Participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the history of the Good Lives Model (GLM) and poses knowledge on how to combine this with other treatment methods.
  2. Propose a style in which these and other techniques can be utilized for diverse populations.
  3. Recognize and describe the limitations of this model in special populations.
  4. Process the applicability to apply the Good Lives Model to clinical case examples vignettes.
