About the Program

This presentation will provide an update on the science of resilience in human development and implications for prevention, policy, and practice. Illustrative research will focus on children and families at very high risk due to exposures of homelessness, poverty, war, and disaster. Emerging research on the neurobiology of resilience and other new horizons in resilience science will be highlighted. A general resilience framework for practice will be presented.

This session is at the intermediate level and is designed for psychologists and other mental health professionals.

This session qualifies for 3.0 continuing education credits. You must attend the full 3-hour program to get continuing education credit for the event.

Participants will be able to:

  1. Define and analyze resilience from a developmental systems perspective at the level of individual and family.
  2. Identify protective processes indicated by research on resilience in children.
  3. Apply a resilience framework tailored to their own practices.
