The Anoka-Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) is seeking a Psychology Director with strong communication and leadership skills to provide direction to psychologists and mental health professionals in the assessment and treatment of patients with complex conditions and behavioral challenges. The Psychology Director will be responsible for treatment planning competency and maintaining a consistent treatment planning process for department members in collaboration with other department supervisors and those designated to oversee this function at AMRTC. This position will provide positive leadership to the members of their department and represents them at policy, treatment development, and hospital planning meetings. Assures the competency of department members, the quality of their work and that all staff members function according to applicable practice standards established by their respective State of Minnesota licensing board.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating and supervising the delivery of psychotherapy and counseling treatment to AMRTC patients using approaches tailored to patients in the hospital, including psychological screening, triaging of psychotherapy among department members, consulting with staff nursing and members of the treatment team, overseeing behavioral assistants in their development of support plans, and providing evidence based treatment.
  • Conducting and coordinating high risk and complex patient clinical case consultation to help problem solve therapeutic and behavioral approaches for patients.
  • Directing quality improvement, compliance and peer review activities that capture and support the department’s continuous improvement efforts to enhance care and treatment offered by Clinical Services Department professionals. Ensuring that the department’s practices meet the mission, goals, and functions of the hospital and organization in providing safe, equitable and quality care.
  • Providing technical assistance and collaborative expertise in the hospital’s active treatment program planning efforts to ensure high fidelity to an established blueprint of services and delivery of individual and group programming that meets the needs of patients matched with the talents and skills of unit and pod clinicians.
  • Ensuring clinical supervision for department members in training or under supervision for licensure purposes and for graduate student trainees as needed.

Minimum Qualifications To qualify, applicants must be:

  • Licensed to practice psychology in the State of Minnesota; OR
  • Currently licensed to practice psychology in another state and must obtain licensure in Minnesota prior to appointment.In addition, you must meet the education and experience listed below.
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy. D)
  • Three years of clinical leadership/management experience in a large, multifaceted organization which includes managing programming, strategic initiatives and directing the work of others.
  • Two years of professional experience conducting assessments in a psychiatric or mental health population as a licensed psychologist (LP)Experience must include:
  • Providing clinical supervision
  • Supervisory experience in a mental health setting, preferably in a psychiatric hospital
  • Knowledge of relevant techniques, literature, MN statute and case law, and sufficient mastery of such concepts to serve as a resource and content expert for department staff.
  •  Assessment, diagnostic, and maintenance of health care records; design and implementation of behavioral health research models; licensing board processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of post-licensure experience
  • Experience working as a licensed psychologist in an inpatient psychiatric hospital
  • Assisting or leading organizational efforts in regulatory compliance with Joint Commission or CMS
