Health Psychologist ~ Duluth, MN

Seeking a full-time psychologist to provide outpatient therapy services to patients, including evaluation and assessment, treatment, education, and consultation, to improve patient outcomes and wellbeing. The psychologist provides services as part of a care team, assembled to assure optimal customer service and clinical and financial outcomes, under the direction of Essentia Health service line management and the referring physician.

The Health Psychology Department provides integrated psychological care and serves as a resource across medical specialties to promote positive patient outcomes using evidence-based treatments and empirically-based assessments. The caseload covers a wide variety of medical diagnoses, including, but not limited to, chronic pain, migraines, insomnia, obesity, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, cancer, cardiovascular disease, perinatal mental health and neurological conditions. Patients typically seen are adults but may include adolescents and late childhood depending on the clinician’s experience and interest.

Competitive benefit and compensation package. Moving allowance provided for candidates, CE money $4,000 per year.

Services Health Psychology currently provides:

  • Evaluation
  • Psychodiagnostic evaluations
  • Psychometric assessment
  • Pre-surgical psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery and spinal cord stimulator surgery
  • Psychological evaluations for gender affirming care
  • Psychological evaluations for fertility treatment


Consultation

  • With various medical teams throughout the health system

Treatment

  • Integrated medical/psychological care
  • Mind/body skills (mindfulness training)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Biofeedback (will facilitate training as needed)
  • Hypnosis (will facilitate training as needed)
  • Trauma-based care
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Team-based departmental participation

  • Involved in program development

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) (Minnesota licensed, or license-eligible are preferred, though postdoctoral psychologist are welcome to apply)
  • Postdoctoral psychologists are welcome to apply and will receive primary and secondary supervision from current licensed psychologists on the Health Psychology team. Postdoctoral psychologists will receive the same pay and benefits as early career licensed psychologists based on experience level. It is expected that postdoctoral psychologists will complete Minnesota licensure requirements in their first year of employment.
