MPA 88TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE CALL FOR PROPOSALS IS NOW OPEN The Minnesota Psychological Association (MPA) excitedly requests proposals to be presented at the 88th Annual MPA Conference to be held April 4-5, 2024, at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel in Bloomington, MN. Proposals on a wide range of topics related to the practice of psychology are welcome. In addition, the conference planning committee specifically is seeking proposals that fit within one of four distinct educational “tracks” that attendees can follow throughout the conference. These tracks include working with adults, working with children/adolescents/families, the business of clinical psychology practice, and a student track. The student track sessions will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 in conjunction with a poster session focused on undergraduate research. Topics for the student sessions might include careers in psychology, getting into graduate school, or making the most of the undergraduate research experience. Authors interested in presenting a poster at the 88th Annual MPA Conference should fill out the online session proposal application. Proposals are due by October 8, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. Proposals accepted for presentation will then be scheduled for the conference program. The Minnesota Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Minnesota Psychological Association maintains responsibility for the program and its contents. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
June 30, 2023 MPA Stands with APA to Denounce Recent Supreme Court DecisionsThe Minnesota Psychological Association stands in solidarity with the American Psychological Association in denouncing two recent Supreme Court rulings.
Meet MPA Member Dr. Marina Bluvshtein. Marina Bluvshtein, Ph.D., L.P., M.A., LMFT, is an Adlerian therapist, supervisor, educator, and researcher with Adler Academy. She presents nationally and internationally on a wide range of topics related to Adlerian history, theory, education, and clinical practice. In addition to her practice in Minnesota, Dr. Bluvshtein is professor at Adler University in Chicago, IL, and Vancouver, BC. MPA Awards State Sen. Kelly Morrison With 2022 Legislator Of The Year Award This past Monday, MPA awarded Minnesota state senator Kelly Morrison, MD with its Legislator of the Year award for her work as a representative during last year’s legislative session. Legislative Grant from APA MPA has received a legislative grant in the amount of $7,500 from APA Services, Inc. for expenses related to legislative efforts to address the Medicaid Rate Study and Provider Tax in MN. Thank you APA Services, Inc., including the APA Practice Directorate and the Committee for State Leaders (CSL) for administering this grant. Thank you to Legislative Committee Co-Chairs Steve Girardeau and Dennis Hannon for facilitating the application of this grant. Their hard work and time spent on the application has helped MPA tremendously.
